HESSTON SPEEDWAY

GENERAL RULES

 

ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OF ANY OF THE RULES, EACH YEAR THERE ARE THOSE WHO INTERPRET THESE RULES IN THEIR OWN MANNER AND GET INTO TROUBLE. WE WROTE THE RULES. WE KNOW WHAT THEY SAY AND WE KNOW WHAT WE MEAN. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUILD, BUY, AND RACE LEGAL EQUIPMENT BY OUR RULES, INTERPRETED OUR WAY IN THE SEASON. DO NOT BE MISLED INTO USING UNSAFE OR ILLEGAL HARDWARE AT THE HESSTON SPEEDWAY.

ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO AMENDMENTS & CHANGES WHEN NECESSARY

 

1. No person under the age of ten (10) shall be permitted in the pit area.

Anyone found smuggling underage children into pits will be asked to leave the Speedway NO EXCEPTIONS

2. No drivers under the age of fourteen (14)

3. Track insurance covers one tow vehicle per entry.

4. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN PIT AREA

NO EXCEPTIONS!

5. Place all trash in barrels provided in the pit areas.

INSPECTION

1. All cars will be inspected by safety inspectors before first race.

2. All cars must have working Fire Extinguisher with Gauge.

3. Mufflers are Mandatory (95 DB or less). Inserts are allowed BUT NOT RECOMMENDED.( Must be visible for inspections!)

4. Aluminum race seats are mandatory in all divisions.

5. Quick Release steering HUB is mandatory in all divisions

6. Approved racing suits, helmets, gloves, and full eye protectors are required at all times when on the track Neck Brace is highly recommended. Helmet must be at least a Snell 95 Rating. All bars around driver must be padded.

7. No in car to pit crew or spectator radio communications will be allowed and no mirrors permitted.

TRACK/ACCIDENTS

1. In an accident situation NO UNAUTHORIZED persons will be permitted on the track at any time for any reason. If family or crew enter the track during accident the driver will be DQ’ed for that race night.

2. Anyone being injured at the track MUST report such injury before leaving.

3. A race may be stopped at anytime if the flag-man or officials consider it dangerous or unsafe to race. All flag decisions will be made by the FLAG-MEN and will be FINAL

4. Medical information should be on a card and taped to inside of helmet. Pit crew’s cards should be inside of their tool boxes.

TRACK/STARTS

1. All cars must take a green flag to be paid monies including tow.

2. All cars must have taken the checkered flag in a qualifying event to qualify for the feature

The only exception will be when the number of cars signed in for a class is less than the

starting field for the feature. Drivers must drive the same car in the qualifying heat and

feature. If any car fails to start its scheduled heat they will go to the end of the feature or

consolation.

3. STAGING AREA: Any car late for line up (after 3 min. call) will be placed in the rear of

the field.

3a. All starts WILL BE at marking on Front strecth.

4. After three attempts to start Cars will go single file for restart.

5. Any car “Jumping” two (2) starts or restarts will automatically go to the rear of the field or be scored last for that lap.

6. If the pole setter jumps the start it will be a complete restart. If the next start is jumped by the second place car the front row and second row will be inverted.

7. If any DRIVER hits the cone on front stretch restart that driver will be penalized two spots on the next yellow flag or at the end of the race.

8. No pit stops will be permitted in any qualifying event after the completion of the first lap.

The (CONSI) is a qualifying event. Pit stops will be permitted during feature events only if that car can join the field before the next green flag. Any car going to the pits will go to rear for restart.

8. Feature starts: Last weeks feature winner starts no better than 10th

9. In the event that last weeks driver who won the feature should be absent then when he/she returns the 10th place rule will take effect for that nights feature starting position

10. In the event that we have two (2) past feature winners on any given night the starting positions will be 10th and 11th.

11. All cars must start nose to tail; NO slingshot starts

TRACK/RACE

1. No car can compete in more than one class per racing program.

2 Anyone borrowing a car must use their own number to earn points for the event.

Points go with the driver. Must start at rear of field.

3 Do not pass the Pace Cars !! Any car doing so will be put to the rear.

3A. Please line-up as quickly as possible. DON’T wait for the pace car to pass you, You catch the pace car.

4. All cars must keep pit speed to very minimum at all times or will be disqualified.

5. ALL cars causing a yellow flag, red flag or coming to a complete stop on the speedway at any time after the green is thrown, will go to the rear. Any car leaving racing surface will go to the rear upon returning to the race. Any Intentional contact will result in a black flag.

6. Any car causing (2) yellows or reds during a qualifying event, or (3) yellows or reds during a feature event will be relegated to the pits.

7 Any car spinning another car will be sent to the rear of the field, and the car spun will get his or her spot back.

8. In the event of a yellow or red flag on the last lap of the race, those cars that have taken the checkered flag will be scored as completing the race. All others will be scored on the completed white flag lap, with the exception of those cars involved in the accident. Those cars will be placed to the rear of the field as if the race were to be lined up for a restart.

9. The winner of the last heat in a division will draw an invert pill ( 0,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)

10. Twenty-four (24) cars or less in a division there will be two (2) ten (10) lap heats. If more than twenty-four (24) cars in a division there will be three (3) eight (8) lap heats.

11. GREEN, WHITE, and CHECKERED will only be given ONE (1) time per RACE.

12. Car damage is a safety concern, you will be sent to the pits and to the rear of the field upon returning. Any debris on the track that causes a yellow flag will not be awarded to the car that lost the debris.

13. Any car entering the pit area after green flag can return on turn ONE when the official feels it is safe.

13a. Any car being let out of pit area and causing a false yellow flag will get black flagged.

TRACK/ DISQUALIFICATIONS

Some Reasons

A. Unnecessary rough or reckless driving by a participant.

B. Stopping on the track to discuss decisions made by the officials.

C. Drivers or crewman performing maintenance on the track.

D. Any cars instructed to weigh and failing to do so immediately.

E. When the starter gives a car the black flag, that car must go to the pit

immediately. Any driver failing to do so will be disqualified.

F. Speeding in the pits.

G. Phone calls made through the week to track owners and officials over decisions made during a race.

H. Deliberate, Blatant and Obnoxious foul language by anyone will be an automatic suspension. SUBJECT TO A FINE OF $50.00 TO BE PAID

BEFORE ATTENDING THE NEXT WEEKS EVENT.

I. Any driver or crew member going to another racer’s pits or car to argue or fight

WILL BE FINED $200.00 AND WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR TWO (2)

WEEKS - NO EXCEPTIONS.

J. Mechanical or safety defects could be cause for the starter to throw the black flag.

1. The track officials have the power and authority to disqualify and /or suspend the driver,

car owner and any other person therewith for violation of rules and other infractions

falling under their jurisdiction. Anyone not cooperating with the program in any manner

that is not in accordance with the speedway rules and procedures, or auto racing in general, will be disqualified or suspended.

2. The speedway has the right to tear down any engine or car to check its legality at anytime. Any car found with an illegal motor or drive-train and any car refusing tear-down will be assumed illegal and will be subject to a suspension, WITH LOSS OF ALL POINTS TO DATE AND MONIES FOR THAT NIGHT. Tech inspector’s decision will be final!!! All tear-down will be done in the track tech building - NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. Failure to meet weight or all other measurement requirements will result in a loss of earnings and points for the program. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

4. Any owner or driver that place in top ten (10) in that night feature event may protest another competitor’s car by presenting $400.00 for protest and $100.00 for track supervision to the tech inspector within 5 minutes after end of race. If the protested car is illegal, the $500.00 shall be returned to the protestor and the illegal car will pay the $100.00 track fee. In the event the protested car is found legal, $200.00 will go to the protested car and $200.00 retained by the track for tech work. You protest REFUSAL will be subject to three (3) weeks suspension and LOSS OF ALL POINTS TO DATE. PROTESTOR MUST BE PRESENT DURING TEAR DOWN AND MUST SPECIFY ITEM PROTESTED. ALL TEAR DOWN WORK WILL BE DONE BY THE CAR’S CREW WITH LIMIT OF THREE !

THESE RULES ARE INTENDED AS THE OFFICIAL SET. HOWEVER, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND AND ADJUST ANY OF THE WORDING AND INTERPRETATIONS AS SITUATIONS ARISE, EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER THE SEASON BEGINS. WE HAVE CONSTRUCTED THESE RULES TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY TO ENCOURAGE MAXIMUM SAFETY,COMPETITION, AND COST EFFECTIVENESS.
