It is recommended by HESSTON SPEEDWAY to have your engine sealed to start the season.
Unsealed engines may be torn down at the track.
CARS:
1. GENERAL CAR
A. Class limited to North American passenger cars from 1965 through present.
B. Rear wheel drive cars only
C. No jeeps, station wagons or convertibles allowed
D. Wheel Base must remain stock and be at least 108" inches
2. APPEARANCE
A. Cars must be neat in appearance and look like model being run
B. Car number must be at least 18" inches tall on the doors and roof. A small number of six (6) inches can be on the front or rear to assist in scoring.
3. BODIES
A. All cars can use pre-fab steel or aluminum panels with stock body lines.
B. All doors must be welded or bolted shut
C. All glass and lights must be removed
D. Protective windshield screens MANDATORY. A minimum of at least two (2) metal rods must be near the center of the windshield, welded or bolted in a vertical position.
E. All decorative trim, door handles, chrome molding, etc. must be removed.
F. Plastic grills must be removed
G. Plastic nose and tail pieces are legal but must match model of car. A 4" high stand alone clear lexan rear spoiler, no wider than 60" may be used. No side or middle panels on spoiler.
H. Tow hooks or chains on the front and rear are mandatory. Hooks and chains must be visible and be able to support the weight of the car. Front hook or chain must be accessible without removing hood.
4. INTERIOR
A. Must have steel firewall and floor pan.
B. NO holes in firewall
C. Must have rear firewall sealing trunk from driver’s compartment
D. NO mirrors or radios
E. NO BOXING OF INTERIOR
F. NO fluid reservoirs, tanks or radiators in driver’s compartment
G. NO inboard fuel pumps in driver’s compartment
H. NO driver adjustable weight jacks or traction control devices
5. FRAMES
A. Frame must match manufacturer of body
B. Unibody frames must be welded together with at least two (2) inch by three (3) inch boxed tubing or similar material.
C. Frame rail must stay in stock location from front to center of rear. May add outside boxing for added safety to frame.
D. Two (2) inch by three (3) inch may only be used behind rear suspension
6. ROLL CAGE
A. A full roll cage with four (4) post design must be used and welded to the frame. No screw type pipe fittings allowed.
B. Seamless tubing with minimum of one and one half inch (1 ½ “) by ninety five-thousands inch (.095') wall thickness must be used.
C. Roll cage must be welded 360 degrees and be gusseted
D. Driver’s door must have four (4) horizontal bars and be padded. The passenger door must have at least three (3) horizontal bars, gusseted and attached to vertical bars of roll cage in doors. All bars around the driver must be padded.
E. Driver must have two inch (2") minimum clearance above helmet
F. Front roll cage bars must follow contour of windshield. Rear roll bar must be behind driver.
G. Two (2) bars must penetrate the firewall rearward from top of the cage to the rear frame to help anchor the cage to the frame.
7. FUEL CELL
A. Thirty-two (32) gallon maximum safety approved fuel cell mounted in a twenty (20) gauge steel box supported by two (2) on eighth (1/8") inch by two inch (2") steel straps top and bottom to safety secure fuel cell.
B. All fuel cells must be mounted securely in the trunk area of the car
C. Fuel lines must run under floor of the car. If fuel lines run through interior it must be encased in metal pipe and sealed at both ends.
D. Racing gasoline only. NO NITROUS
E. NO fuel additives of any kind
F. Fuel shall be subject to testing, and will be tested.
8. WHEEL AND TIRES
A. Steel racing wheels only. NO wide five wheels. Wheels must not exceed 10"- This is all Street Stocks.
B. For safety purposes, oversized lug nuts are recommended
C. Maximum Tire size is a 29.0.
D. American racer 44, Hoosier 15 or harder compound allowed. Nothing softer!
E. All tires must meet minimum durometer reading of 32 at all times. THE TRACK DUROMETER IS THE OFFICIAL MEASURING DEVICE.
F. Maximum cross section width is sixteen and three quarters inch (16 3/4 ") NO tolerance
G. Bead - locks Rims are allowed.
9. BRAKES
A. All four (4) wheels must have operating brakes
B. Calipers and rotors must be stock OEM steel
C. NO plastic brake lines
D. Dual Master cylinders with drop pedals are legal.
E. Break adjustments are allowed but can’t be within reach of driver.
10. TRANSMISSION – CLUTCH & REAR END
A. Stock factory transmission. Must have forward and reverse gears. NO direct drive, Bert or Brinn transmission allowed.
B. Clutch must be stock or triple disc only, no smaller than 7.25 and all steel.
C. Approved 360-degree scatter shield bell housing of at one quarter inch (1/4") thick steel mandatory
D. Automatic transmission with Stock torques converter. Converter must be working.
E. Any stock type production rear end acceptable. Nine inch (9") Ford rear end permitted
F. NO quick change or “Floaters” rear ends allowed
G. Rear ends must be locked
11. SUSPENSION
A. Coil spring cars can use a three link rear suspension. Top link can be a Maximum of thirty (30") in length. LOWER ARMS MUST BE SOLID. Pan hard or j-bar can be used but NO SPRING OR RUBBER J-BARS bushings. Rear leaf spring cars must run steel springs.
B. The front suspension parts must remain stock for the make and model of the car.
THE EXCEPTION IS THE FOLLOWING:
1. Non-adjustable steel racing shocks are permitted
2. Racing springs with a minimum five inch (5") diameter is permitted. Spring pocket weight jacks are allowed.
3. Reinforcement of upper front A-Arms is permitted.
3a. TUBULAR A-Arms are also ALLOWED (effective 7/15/2006)
4. Shocks may be relocated from inside of springs. However, only one shock per wheel. 4 Links with stock length bottom arms. Top arms can be adjustable. Front of upper and lower arms can be adjustable.
12. ENGINE
A. Engine size not to exceed 412 cubic inches. NO EXCEPTIONS
A. Engine must follow manufactures line GM in GM cars, Ford in Ford Cars, etc...
B. Number one or first spark plug must be in line with upper ball joint
C. Stock OEM type cast iron heads or World Products S/R torque heads are permitted. World Products GM Casting #1-052 and Ford Casting #1-056. NO Iron Eagle Heads. NO altering of heads is permitted. NO angle milling. Port machining on the head intake runner is allowed up to 3/4" depth from intake manifold interface. No additional port work is allowed.
D. Flat top or inverted dome pistons only
E. NO GM Angle plug heads or after market high performance heads permitted.
GM Vortec heads 25534371 and 2553435 "WILL BE" permitted BUT YOU MUST RUN #2116 Intake.F1. Stud girdles ARE ALLOWED but NO Shaft rockers (effective 7/15/2006)
F. NO roller lifters or roller camshafts. Roller rockers will be allowed.
G. Headers are permitted. Header mufflers are required. Exhaust is not permitted to be directed towards ground. Exhaust must be parallel to the ground. NO 180-degree headers.
H. Stock fuel pump must be used. NO electric fuel pumps.
I. Ignition must be stock type single points. You Must run stock Ford/GM or MSD HEI APPROVED ignition. Must be battery powered.
NO Rev-Limiting Devices allowed
NO Magnetos allowed.
13. CARBURETOR AND INTAKE
A. Limited to one (1) stock two (2) or four (4) barrel (MAX .750CFM) Holley Carburetor NO modifications except the possible removal of choke plate.
B. Stock cast iron two (2) or four (4) barrel intake with adapter will be allowed to add a maximum one (1) inch spacer plate.
C. Edelbrock Performer intake manifolds will be permitted as follows:
NUMBERS MUST BE VISIBLE TO TECH INSPECTOR
1. Chevy 2101 or 2116
2. Ford 2181
3. Chrysler 2176
D. 358 CID or smaller engine can use any intake except tunnel ram.
358 Engines running vortec head # 25534371 or 2553435 must run 2116 intake.
E. NO polishing, grinding, cutting or porting to any intake manifolds.
14. WEIGHT
A. Cars running 358 cubic inch motor or smaller must weigh 3000 lbs with Driver and without adding fuel after race.
B. All cars with over 358 cubic inch motor must weigh 3200 lbs with driver and without adding fuel after race.
C. TRACK SCALES ARE OFFICIAL
D. Engine Size and car weight must be both sides of hood 2"(two) high
E. All ballast must be securely mounted and have a MINIMUM of 2 mounting bolts a minimum of ½" diameter and PAINTED WHITE WITH CAR NUMBER ON IT and mounted within the confines of the body and below window line.
15. SAFETY
A. Aluminum Racing seat and headrest required.
B. Five(5) point racing seat belts required. Belts must be nylon quick release type in good condition and working order. Belts must be attached to frame. Belts may not be more than THREE (3) years old.
C. Operational fire extinguisher with gauge must be mounted within driver’s reach. A five pound (5#) Halon System is recommended.
D. Approved fire resistant driver’s uniform is mandatory. Fireproof gloves, underwear, socks, and hood are recommended.
E. Full face helmet with Lexan face shield–Snell 95 or newer
F. Nylon Mesh window net is required
G. No aluminum drive shafts
H. Drive shafts must be painted white and have a safety hoop. Safety hoop must measure minimum six inches (6") in diameter and one-quarter-inch (1/4") thickness by one-inch (1") width
